Parenting Reflections: How I Built Kindergarten Readiness in my Sensitive Kids (Hint: It Wasn't Through Flashcards or Letter Sounds!)

Today I’m opening up about something that’s been weighing on me: the pressure to focus on academics at home. So many of us feel like we have to constantly teach our kids—whether it’s reading, letter sounds, or math—but I’ve learned that sometimes it’s okay to let that go, especially when it leads to resistance.

I’ve personally felt how tough it can be when kids push back on learning at home. Instead of forcing it, I made the choice to step back. Letting go of that pressure has been a relief for both of us, allowing space for connection rather than conflict.

Because here’s the thing: play is the real building block for learning and bonding with our kids, and it’s often overlooked. In this episode, I share how this shift has been a game-changer for me as a parent and has strengthened my relationship with my child in ways that an academic focus just couldn’t.
