74. 4 Reasons You Should Let Your Child be Bored (& How to Deal with Boredom)

Most parents dread the inevitable “I’m bored” from our kids. Those words can conjure up feelings of guilt for us as parents, and we might feel compelled to jump in and suggest a list of activities or organize a craft or put on a movie.

In this week’s episode, I share four reasons why you should resist the urge to jump in and instead just let your child be bored. I also talk about how to hold space for the discomfort of boredom and how to support your child through it. 

Here’s the thing: Boredom is – despite the discomfort it brings! – actually a good thing! Kids need to feel bored sometimes, and after listening to this week’s episode, you’ll know why that’s true, and you’ll also have a game plan for the next time your child is bored.
